Results of seismic profiling of the sand and gravel deposits lying north of Donahue Creek, including the License of Occupation under contract with Portland Canal Aggregates Corporation, indicate an estimated tonnage of 80,597,000 metric tonnes of sand and gravel with a calculated accuracy of approximately 1.0%.
The test results arise from a 2640 meter seismic refraction survey conducted by Associated Mining Consultants Ltd. of Calgary, Alberta in conjunction with a 9 hole - 890 meter sonic drill program conducted by Mud Bay Drilling of Surrey, B.C.
The results confirm the presence of high quality sand and gravel in approximate ratios of 51% sand and 49% gravel. One horizontal lense of good quality clay was encountered, which will provide suitable material for lining the wash ponds to be used for processing the sand and gravel products.
Additional engineering studies are currently in process to crosscheck the volume calculations of AMC and to provide a preliminary volume estimate for the clay horizon.
A contract to assist in obtaining the Environmental Impact Assessment work has been signed with Micon International of Vancouver and Toronto. This study is a required component of the Development Permit Application for establishment of a commercial extraction operation and will involve full consultation with the First Nations peoples in the area.
