HIGHBANK SEEKING ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATE

Fieldwork has recommenced on the Portland Canal Aggregates Project to lay the groundwork for preparation of an application for an Environmental Assessment Certificate under the provincial environmental assessment review process. Once approved, this leads to the issue of an Operating Permit for this sand and gravel deposit.

Associated Geosciences Ltd. of Calgary, Alberta is preparing a NI 43-101 Technical Report on the property’s mineable sand and gravel resource. A. Keith McCandlish, P.Geo., Eric Beresford, P.Eng. (AGL) and Malcolm Fraser (Portland Canal Aggregates) completed a site visit to the property on June 7th, 2007 to verify drilling results and to determine the optimal mine layout for preparation of a formal Mine Plan.

Micon International has arranged for G3 Consulting Ltd. to conduct further submarine investigation of the proposed sand and gravel load out site, water quality studies, fisheries studies and selected bathymetry. This fieldwork was completed on June 11th through June 15th, 2007, and will assist in the planning of the load out structure and offshore mooring points.

A remote sensing meteorological station and continuous hydrology recorders have been ordered by Water Management Consultants for installation on site in July to permit ongoing compilation of weather and surface water databases.

Avian studies are currently being conducted by Gartner Lee Limited of Smithers, B.C. to be followed by wildlife and terrestrial ecosystem mapping.

Collection of these various data forms the basis for the environmental impact assessment and mitigation planning to design and develop a project that minimizes the environmental impacts, a key goal of the provincial environmental assessment review process.
