The Company wishes to thank Associated Mining Consultants Ltd. (AMCL) of Calgary, AB for their report entitled “Refraction Survey for Bedrock Mapping, Swamp Point Aggregates Property”.
“In total, 2024 line meters of seismic refraction data were collected between November 5th and 12th, 2005.
The survey parameters used are summarized below:
Acquisition system Geometrics Geode Number of channels 24 Geophone spacing 8 m (single phone per channel) Energy source Dynamite (1 kg per shot on average) Shot spacing 48 m (every 6 geophones) + offset shots approximately 100 m off Sample interval 0.125 milliseconds Record length 256 milliseconds Swamp phones were used for this survey which were firmly planted in the ground 20 to 50 cm deep. The dynamite was fired from the surface, which created an air blast but provided sufficient energy into the ground to enable us to map the bedrock surface.”
“The seismic refraction survey successfully mapped the depth to bedrock at the aggregates investigation site. The interpretation of the data indicates that the depth to bedrock could reach 80 m and has the potential for thick aggregates sequences within the overburden. Bedrock velocity is generally high which would reflect the lack of a weathered bedrock layer above competent bedrock.
The seismic refraction survey conducted for this study, although successful in mapping depth to bedrock and consequently overburden thicknesses; does not allow us to distinguish whether or not the overburden sequence is completely composed of aggregates as can be seen on the surface. The fact that the bedrock appears to plunge below water level on one profile is an indication that marine sedimentation could also have occurred, which may bring in finer sediments: silt and clay. To distinguish between the silty material and the coarse material, we recommend conducting an electromagnetic or electrical resistivity survey to map those changes in grain size to fully evaluate the site for its potential source of aggregates material.”
The Swamp Point Project will be further advanced and all necessary consultants’
recommendations will be considered to successfully move towards environmental
and economic feasibility.
